AANA - Associação dos Artesãos de Novo Airão
AANA emerged after the Fibrarte Project, from the Economic Alternatives Program of the Vitória Amazônica Foundation, in Novo Airão, in 1994. The main objective of the project was to stimulate artisanal activity with vegetable fibers to generate income for the populations of the Rio Negro basin. The Association was formalized in 1996 by women weavers of vegetable fibers, such as arumã, ambé vine and tucumã straw, from Novo Airão.

FAM – Fundacao
The Almerinda Malaquias Foundation (FAM) was created in 1997 by Miguel Rocha da Silva and Jean-Daniel Vallotton, who idealized the implementation of an education and professional training center for the population of the municipality of Novo Airão where, through the reuse of wood discarded from naval construction, the trade of carpentry was taught.
Almerinda and Malaquias, natives of Amazonas, were the parents of Miguel Rocha and his 15 siblings. Together they fought to pass on to their children a good education and a love for the land in which they lived.

More About Us:
In a visit to the Amazon Rainforest, we had the incredible opportunity to interact with indigenous tribes near the city of Manaus. This eye-opening experience deepened our understanding of the challenges faced by these communities, including the preservation of their traditional way of life, protection of their ancestral lands, and sustainable livelihood opportunities.
In response to this profound encounter, we decided to establish N.A. Amazonia, a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering indigenous communities and preserving their cultural heritage. Our primary mission is to support these tribes by providing them with a platform to showcase their remarkable craftsmanship and traditional artistry.
At N.A. Amazonia, we work with talented indigenous artisans who create exquisite pieces of art, handcrafted with skills passed down through generations. From intricate jewelry to unique handicrafts, each creation reflects the cultural richness and natural beauty of the Amazon Rainforest. By collaborating directly with the indigenous artisans, we ensure that the sale proceeds from these artworks go entirely back to the communities that made them.
We firmly believe in the principles of sustainability and ethical practices. The materials used in crafting these masterpieces are sourced responsibly, taking into account the preservation of the rainforest and its ecosystems. Our aim is to promote eco-friendly products that not only benefit the artisans but also contribute positively to the environment.
When you purchase a piece from N.A. Amazonia, you become an essential part of our mission. All the funds generated through the sales are reinvested in the indigenous communities to support initiatives that enhance education, healthcare, infrastructure, and environmental conservation.
We invite you to be a part of this journey of positive change. By choosing our unique creations, you not only acquire a one-of-a-kind piece but also contribute directly to the well-being of indigenous tribes in the Amazon Rainforest.
Thank you for being a part of N.A. Amazonia and supporting the cultural diversity and sustainable development of the Amazon Rainforest communities. Together, we can make a lasting impact and create a brighter future for those who have been the guardians of this precious land for generations.
